Application Details |
Entries must be original creations that have not been announced domestically or overseas.
Any genre of work is acceptable as long as it is related to clothing, lifestyles, food and housing.
The winning works will be considered for commercialization. |

- [Points to Consider]
- • Only one PDF file can be attached to one application.
- • The Presentation Sheet must be in PDF format (under 10MB per file, use of compression software is not allowed), and if required, fonts should be embedded or rasterized and checked that they can be opened correctly using Adobe Reader 9.
- • Photos and drawings must be at least 200dpi in resolution. Ensure that they can be clearly read and seen when printed.
- • Entry title, entry description, overall drawing (rendering), or three-view drawing (front, plan, and lateral views) must be depicted on two A3 size (horizontal) sheets. Do not display any information that may identify the applicant.
- • Not only should entry descriptions and other text be noted on the Presentation Sheet, they should also be entered on the application form.
- • Only applications in Chinese (simplified, traditional), Japanese, and English will be accepted.

- [Points to Consider]
- • The total of the length, width, and height of the package must be within 120cm. Please send your submissions in a sturdy box to prevent damage during delivery and storage.
- • For large entries such as furniture, please submit a scaled-down model that is within the size specified above.
- • Attach a label that indicates only the application number to the bottom of the mock-up. Do not include anything other than the registration number that may identify the applicant.
- • The applicant is responsible for shipping charges. COD shipments will not be accepted.
- • Presentation sheets from the first round of screening will also be taken into consideration.You may update or revise presentation sheets.You will be notified of the URL upon notification of passing the first round of screening.
- • Only applications in Chinese (simplified, traditional), Japanese, and English will be accepted.

Points to Consider Regarding Applications |
- • There are no restrictions on the number of times you may enter for the first round of screening.
- • Works submitted for the first round of screening cannot be added to or revised after submission. However, additions or revisions are allowed before submission for the final round of screening.
- • Mock-ups will not be returned.
- • If a prize winner is a minor, parental consent is required to receive the prize.
- • Entries will be limited to original creations that have not been announced domestically or overseas.
- • Entries will be limited to those that have not been submitted to past MUJI AWARDS or competitions held by other companies.
- • Applicants and entries will be kept confidential until prize-winning entries are announced.
- • Prize-winning entries may be displayed by Ryohin Keikaku at their MUJI stores in Japan and overseas, or at exhibitions and other events in which Ryohin Keikaku may participate in.
- • Prize-winning entries may be disclosed by Ryohin Keikaku for purposes related to the PR of the MUJI AWARD and other objectives.
- • Any and all intellectual property rights regarding the prize-winning entry (rights related to domestic and global copyrights, patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks) shall be transferred to Ryohin Keikaku, and the applicant shall consent to the fact that the prize money shall serve as fair compensation for transfer of these rights.
- • If a prize-winning entry is considered for commercialization and becomes fixed for commercialization, a memorandum of understanding will be exchanged regarding payment of separate contingency fees.

Schedule |
- 1. Applications will be closed Thursday, October 31, 2013.
- 2. Applicants that have passed the first round of screening will receive an email towards the end of November 2013 (tentative) with details regarding the final round of screening.
(Applicants will not receive any notification if they do not pass the first round of screening)
- 3. Submit mock-ups between Monday, January 6, 2014 and Friday, January 10, 2013.
- 4. The final round of screening will be held in mid-January 2013 and awards will be decided. Award winners will be notified by mid-February 2014.
- 5. Results will be announced on the website, in magazines, posters, flyers, and other means towards the end of March 2014.
- 6. An awards ceremony and exhibition will be held in Shanghai in April 2014.
(Award winners will be invited to the ceremony.)
- 7. After being exhibited in Shanghai, an exhibition tour is planned of the prize-winning entries in MUJI stores in each country.
